About Indian Open of Surfing 2016

The All Cargo Indian Open of Surfing made waves in India, marking not just a first for the country but also for the state of Karnataka. Organized by The Surfing Federation of India, along with Mantra Surf Club and the Karnataka State Department of Tourism, this event brought together surfers from all corners of the globe, as well as from India itself. Held over three days, it was a historic occasion filled with cultural richness, featuring traditional South Indian music right on the beach during the opening and final surf heats.

With over 8,000 spectators, the event buzzed with excitement and energy. More than 70 surfers, both local and international, showcased their skills, representing surf clubs from across South India. It wasn’t just about competition; it was about unity and camaraderie, with a vibrant atmosphere and positive vibes all around. Even renowned figures like the Surfing Swami showed their support, making it a truly memorable and inclusive celebration of the surfing community in India.
